John Blue was granted a new license for a two-storey sandstone pub, known as the Old Commodore Inn. He named his pub after his father, Billy Blue, a freed American slave, better known to all as ‘The Old Commodore’. Billy Blue was a well-known identity in Colonial Sydney.
